My Biography
My life (as best I can recall)
- Born in Florida in 1982.
- Raised in California from 1984-1993, where I excelled at causing trouble at school.
- Moved to North Carolina in 1993.
- Starting making my first websites at age 14 in 1994. They sucked, but so did everything else on the web in those days.
- Swam competitively year-round from 1994-2001, including six years with the Mecklenburg Aquatic Club and one year on the North Carolina State University swim team. Was ranked as high as #2 in the state of North Carolina (200 freestyle). Like pretty much everyone else in history, I also got my butt kicked by Michael Phelps.
- Graduated valedictorian from Mooresville Senior High School and won the Park Scholarship, granting me four years of all-expenses-paid at North Carolina State University. Also known for giving the shortest graduation speech in school history (less than minute) and as the only valedictorian to beat up the school bully.
- Earned my Bachelors of Computer Science in three years and my Masters of Computer Science in one year, effectively completing a six-year program in four.
- Traveled to Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Turkey, and Guatemala as part of Philipp Tavakoli’s incredible Four Worlds study abroad program.
- Decided to give the so-called “real world” a break and moved to Roatan, Honduras, to teach scuba diving for a bit. A bit became a year and half.
- Moved back to North Carolina and fulfilled my childhood dream of working for a video game company. The gig was great, but the transition from island life to the American Dream wasn’t.
- Returned to Roatan, Honduras, to once again teach scuba diving and develop websites for local businesses.
